Selling Vintage Toys in Eastern NC: From Tin Wind-Ups to Star Wars — and Why You Shouldn't Toss Anything

Toys are the category where value gets thrown out the most — because old toys look like exactly what they are: played-with, mixed-up, missing pieces, living in a bucket in the shed. Here's what we're actually looking for, and the one rule that matters more than all the others: don't toss anything until somebody knowledgeable has looked.

A Century of Toys We're Buying

Tin wind-ups from the turn of the century onward — early mechanical toys, even rough, even not working. Japanese tin litho friction toys from the 1960s — the cars, robots, and space toys with the beautiful printed graphics; these have serious collector followings. Original Kenner Star Wars, 1977–1985 — the vintage line, loose or carded, from a single figure to a footlocker full. 3¾" G.I. Joe, Transformers, and the other great 1980s action figure lines — He-Man, Thundercats, and their shelf-mates — loose in a bin or still on the card.

Condition Matters — Carded and Boxed Especially

As with everything we buy, condition counts. A figure still sealed on its original card or a tin toy in its original box is a different animal from its loose twin. But don't let a loose, played-with collection stop you — loose figures move through our shop constantly, and "played with" is the natural state of a good toy.

The Part Nobody Expects: We Want the Accessories

Here's the inside truth of the toy world: the tiny accessories are often harder to find than the figures themselves — and oftentimes they're what we're hunting for most. The little blasters, rifles, capes, helmets, missiles, backpacks, and weapon trees got lost in couch cushions and vacuum cleaners for forty years, which makes surviving ones genuinely sought after. A sandwich bag of tiny plastic guns that looks like trash can matter more than the figures in the same box.

The rule: nothing gets tossed. Not the broken robot (parts count), not the figure missing a leg, not the mystery bag of little plastic pieces from the junk drawer. Dump the whole bin in a box and bring all of it. We'll sort the treasure from the true trash — that's our job, and we're happy to do it while you watch.

The Same Simple Process

Bring everything to 101 S Main Street in downtown Robersonville — no appointment, no pre-sorting, an easy trip from Greenville, Farmville, Washington, and Williamston. We go through the whole collection with you and make one fair offer for everything. No cherry-picking — we won't take the carded Star Wars and leave you with the bin. You walk out with payment in hand the same day.

Whole attic? Whole storage unit? An estate full of toys out toward Goldsboro or Kinston? Ask about a house call — we come to you, go through it on site, and pay you on the spot.
